Editorial Policy
Our editorial policy
Last updated: August 29, 2026
Financial content carries real weight in people's decisions, so we hold ourselves to a clear, consistent process. This page explains how we research, write, review, and correct what we publish.
Editorial independence
Our editorial team decides what to cover and what to recommend. Where Afflueno has a commercial relationship with a company we write about — see our affiliate disclosure — that relationship never determines our conclusions. A product's ranking, or whether we recommend it at all, reflects our editorial judgment, not who pays us.
How we research and write
We start from primary and authoritative sources: official program rules, rate sheets, regulatory publications, and issuer or lender documentation, rather than repeating what other sites already say. Every published article lists its sources so you can check our work yourself. We write in plain language on purpose — financial jargon is often used to make simple ideas sound more complicated than they are, and we try not to do that.
Expert review
Guides that touch on technical or high-stakes topics are checked by a financial reviewer before publication — someone with relevant expertise who reads the piece specifically for accuracy, not just for style. Reviewed articles credit the reviewer by name.
Keeping content current
Interest rates, program terms, and financial products change — sometimes quickly. We track when each article was last fact-checked and flag content that needs a fresh look rather than leaving outdated numbers live indefinitely. If you read something that looks out of date, please tell us — see below.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we want to know. Email us at hello@afflueno.com or use our contact page with a link to the article and a description of the issue. Meaningful corrections are made promptly and noted on the article itself.
What this isn't
Nothing on Afflueno is personalized financial, legal, or tax advice — see our disclaimer for the full explanation. Our goal is to help you understand your options well enough to make your own informed decision, or to know what to ask a licensed professional.
