Rebalancing
Definition
Buying and selling investments to bring a portfolio back to its target asset allocation after market moves have shifted it.
Example
If a 60/40 portfolio drifts to 70/30 after a stock rally, rebalancing sells some stocks and buys bonds to return to 60/40.
