From 2026–27, repayments are only charged on income above $69,528: 15 cents per dollar up to $129,717, then $9,028 plus 17 cents per dollar, and 10% of your whole income above $186,050. You'd repay about $35,398 in total.
2026–27 thresholds. Applies to HELP, VSL, SFSS, SSL, ABSTUDY SSL and AASL debts. Your employer withholds an estimate through PAYG; the actual repayment is worked out when you lodge your tax return. Voluntary repayments are possible but not required.
